The guy at Focus Optics in the valley was ablt to fix one of my c-mount lenses where the thread porton had been bent to the point where it could not be mounted. Now it's fine.
Is it worth taking to a lens specialist?

Pliers won't work anywhere near as well as the wood dowell method.
My tech guy fixed one of my lenses while I watched using the wooden dowell method. He made it look real easy, because I'm sure he had done this numerous times before.
Your first time out, perhaps you should see an expert do it, but if they grab something metal to "fix" your dented camera lens...
Just say no.

How about if I pull a Jack Nicholson from the movie "The Shining", and show up with my wooden dowell and say...."Here's Alex!"

O.k., I used a wodden dowell and a hammer. Tapped it 3 times, each time checking to see if it was working. It worked! I could see that it would have been possible to overdo it, but I was careful not to. Can't say this method would work for everyone's camera with a problem like this. But it worked for mine.
Thanks Alex.
